I've started the Insight program, got as far as training for the Magic Garden, and an error messaged informed me my Video Card needed upgrading. I'm not sure what to do with this! I thought I met the System requirements -- help please. I"m running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, and am not sure how to detect my Video Card specification.
The video card message indicates that the video driver currently installed on your computer needs to be updated. There are a few different ways to perform the update, so we have provided the process that we've had the most success with.
Note – if this is an older computer with original hardware, simply updating the driver may not resolve the issue. In some cases the video card will need to be replaced. If a replacement is necessary, we recommend a video card with at least 64 MB of video memory, preferably 128 MB.
Thanks Andrea! Checked out the diagnostics and I see I have a 32MB card with a post-2004 driver. Haven't downloaded anything but ran Insight again and can't recreate the error message -- not sure what that means!! Will just have to monitor this one I think -- thanks for the info. Do you know if a 32MB card will definitely run into problems on Insight eventually?

The video card error message is triggered by some of the more demanding exercises, but it doesn't seem to be all. The error message will likely return as soon as you attempt to work in the same exercise that you had been when you originally received the error.
It’s been my experience that a video card with 32MB of allocated video memory and a computer with 1GB of RAM (system memory) will not encounter problems with the visual stimuli. However, if your computer has 512MB of RAM or less, you may eventually run into problems. It really ends up being on a case by case basis.
If the error message returns, here are a few things to try:
1) Check your computer manufacturer’s site to ensure you have the most current driver available.
2) Verify you do not have one of the following incompatible Intel chipsets (82810 or 82815).
If you’re still receiving the error after completing items 1 & 2 above, proceed to 3.
3) Run a standalone diagnostic and upload the results to Posit Science
The standalone diagnostic can be found in the following location:
Windows XP/Windows Vista
Start --> Programs/All Programs --> Posit Science --> Run Standalone with Diagnostics
Mac OSX 10.4.x and 10.5.x
Applications\Posit Science\Cortex\Run Standalone with Diagnostics
Be sure to let us know once you’ve uploaded your data so we can begin the review process.
