Repetitive Stress Syndrome from mouse clicking!
For anyone who has had Repetitive Stress Syndrome from a computer program with too much mouse clicking, these programs are extremely challenging. I am close to the end of mine now, but my back and arm are in pretty bad shape, now on the left side of my body as I have been using my left hand as the right was injured last time. LIsa

Inappropriate?Lisa - Thanks so much for sharing your experience. We highly recommend that participants take breaks at regular intervals. However, even regular breaks may not prevent this type of injury. In the Brain Fitness Program, we do have the option of using keyboard shortcuts for High or Low? and Tell Us Apart. Hi Lisa - One of our researchers here suggested I make sure that you have set up an ergonomic workstation. You've probably gone through a checklist like this previously, but I thought I'd post for the benefit of any other community members who might be experiencing pain. Inappropriate?I'd really like to request more keyboard shortcuts - I use the ones in High or Low and Tell Us Apart, but there could be more.
I also think a version of Listen And Do which doesn't require the difficult click-and-drag mouse movement would be a good idea. It could be implemented by double-clicking on the start item and then clicking on where to put them, for example. This would strain the arms a lot less than dragging.

I'm turning this into an "Idea" to track keyboard shortcuts as feature for future development.

Inappropriate?I always mouse with my RH but I decided to use my LH while doing BFP. It was a bit of a challenge at first but eventually I settled into it. Besides giving my RH a break it complements the concept of "doing something new" to further brain plasticity.

Inappropriate?I JUST BEGAN THE PROGRAM. I AM ALREADY EXPERIENCING THE POTENTIAL BEGINNING OF CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME IN MY RIGHT INDEX FINGER.
PLEASE HAVE A CUSTOMER REP CALL ME ASAP TO DISCUSS KEYBOARD OPTIONS WHENEVER POSSIBLE AS WELL AS NIP-IN-THE-BUD THERAPEUTIC BRAINSTORMING. I'M THINKING I AM NOT THE FIRST AND THAT THIS MAY HAVE CROSSED YOUR RADAR.

Hi Robert - In addition to using keyboard shortcuts, I'd recommend reviewing this article from the Mayo Clinic on prevention techniques for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I'd pay specific attention to the first point "Reduce your force and relax your grip." Our programs require a lot of concentration and sometimes users find themselves increase tension as they increase focus. It's very important to stay relaxed.
