Hello Bella,
Stretch's answer was good and I hope it helped you understand what is happening when the headphones have sound out of only one side!
If this solved your problem then great! If not, please see my note below;
NOTE! Check your headphones in a tv, dvd player, stereo, radio or other device to determine if the problem is really the headphones or the computer.
If after trying them in one or more of those electronic devices as suggested you are still getting sound out of only one side then please see the following;
- a. If you have KOSS headphones, please call KOSS for a replacement. They have a no-questions-asked, lifetime guarantee. The number for Koss is 1-800-USA-KOSS.
- b. If you have Sennheiser headphones and you purchased the program within the last 6 months, .
Additional Note; The type of headphones, KOSS or Sennheiser is imprinted on the outside of the earpieces.
Regards,

Hi Bella,
I've had this problem before. The port that you are plugging your headphones into has a short or is a little faulty. I ended up having to use a different port on my desktop computer and that fixed the problem!
Here is how ports work and how you know when it is the computer having the problem;
When a computer is built at the factory it has many components. A few of those components are ports. Ports are created and installed into the computer on the assembly line. Two 3/4 inch long tiny aluminum half tubes come down the line. A worker solders a wire to each half tube. Another worker clicks the two sides together to form the tube. The next person installs the tube into the computer (CPU) making it a port. This port is where you plug your headphones in. If you hear from only one side of the headphones it means that one side of that port is faulty or has a short.
About all you can do if you don't have another port is gently wiggle the jack in there to see if that helps...or turn it a little. Maybe even try a different set of headphones?
Hope this helps!

I am having the same problem on both of my pairs of headphones. Mine don't work on other appliances either though. Maybe you just need a new pair? Either that or like Stretch said, faulty wiring.

I have tried two different pairs and they both have the same problem. What's worse is that with some files(mp3 format) when I unplug my earphones there is no sound altogether, even though the file is still playing. Please help!

This sounds like a sound card problem, rather than a headphone problem. I would check the support site of your computer's original manufacture for an updated sound card driver. There are several sound cards used by most computer manufacturer, such as RealTek AC97, SoundMAX, or IDT, which is why you will have to check with your computer's manufacture to determine what driver you may need.
An alternative is that you may want to consider replacing your sound card with an external USB one, such as one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product... -

That problem definetely because of internal probs ..if you use Realtek Audio manager......Set the sound effect to Room or etc as you like.... and your headphone will be fine
