LEARNING DISABILITES

Hi-your program was recommended to me by a neurologist for my 11 year old son who was diagnosed with a learning disability at 1 1/2 years old-it was labeled mild autism-now he has been labeled as having ADHD-regardless of the label-he still has some difficulty articulating and reading and in reading comprehension. He is however, extremely mechanical. He receives ESE assistance through public schools-no private school would accept him. He was held back due to Florida FCAT testing and is just now entering the 5th grade-do you think any of your programs would be approppriate for him? If so, please e-mail me and let me know which product you would suggest. Thank you

Have there been any specific studies completed on adults with ADHD undertaking the Brain Fitness program? Anyone else out there in this position who've completed it yet?

I am have schizoaffective disorder and this program has increased my ability to communicate with others. I listen, process and respond better, without a doubt.

ability to listen, to cognate and to respond. In other words, I am a better communicator.

I have battled attention deficit disorder without hyperactivity for the past 72 years! Can not follow directions auditory or visual of more that two items, make change without a pencil & paper, follow receipes. Played violin. But too much drill, drill.drill.

About 1/3 of the way through the auditory program I began to see a real diference in my learning to play the banjo. Less drill & better retention! Actually amazing to me. I also noticed when the dance instructor called out a series of manovers/steps I was able to follow them. I know inattention / memory is the underlying cause of most of the LD problems.

This program really works because it goes slowly. Sneaks up on you. First your remember only 2 items, then 3, then 4 which I thouht would be impossible, and finally I finished the program just starting to get some of those with 5 items.

This suggests to me that I can go on to master 5, but I need more time-like repeat the program. LD's may need a little longer because we are comming from such a low starting point.

Another weakness I didnt know I had showed up also. In the beginning, I couldnt identify many of the sounds of the letters. I would think I heard an F sound and search for it in the answer only to discover there weren't any words starting with an F .So I am looking for FIG and the monitor is showing me Pig. I had a lot of trouble matching the sound with the actual letters on the screen . This was such a surprize.
And may be an underlying problem in learning to read & write. I could use more time on this part of the program. But improvement was noted in all areas. I say continue these programs until there is no more improvement.

So take heart all you LD's. This is the best perscription for success in school & out.
