director player error: TypeError:this.px_soundProcessing.combineSoundList is not a function
I am on Session 23. I keep getting a dialog box that says:

I get no sounds back and the program is frozen. I was able to do the first exercize high/low, but nothing else.

Final Update: Issue Resolved
McAfee has issued an update and white-listed the quarantined BFP files. To resolve the issue on your computer, please run an update on your McAfee Security Center and then restore the following quarantined files in McAfee Security Center:
- C:\Program Files\PositScience\2_0\Neuroscience\activate.exe
- C:\ProgramFiles\PositScience\2_0\Neuroscience\Xtras\process_sound.x32
Detailed Instructions
- Open the McAfee Security Center and click Updates to download and install the latest virus definitions.
- After the update completes, proceed to the Restore area to view quarantined files.
- Restore the following quarantined files: ACTIVATE.EXE and PROCESS_SOUND.X32
- Once the file status changes from quarantined to restored, you may close McAfee and launch the Brain Fitness Program.
- If you used the previous work around to launch the Brain Fitness Program (i.e. Brain Fitness Program.bat), you may now delete this icon and launch using the blue BFP on your desktop.
If you do not have these files listed in the quarantined area you will need to use your BFP installation CD to install over your existing installation. This simply replaces any missing files while keeping your session history in place.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem. Happened in the last 1 hour. My anti virus program is McAfee. I think I saw a message saying it deleted a file - don't remember the name. Now I am unable to use BrainFitness.

The files have already been removed. I'd recommend waiting until we have an update from McAfee.

I reinstalled BFP and high/low worked for a little while, but then started malfunctioing during the exercise Do we have to reinstall BFP and keep McAfee turned off while doing the installation and exrercises and then reinstall everytime until there is a fix assuming we turn McAfee back on in between?

On Wednesday, September 16th McAfee Anti-Virus issued an update that has blocked another Brain Fitness Program file.
With this McAfee update we do not have a workaround to make the program operational. We have contacted McAfee and will be working closely with them to resolve this as quickly as possible.
We encourage you to contact McAfee to ask them to prioritize fixing this issue. Please reference support case # 374625803 and ask McAfee do what they can to expedite getting the following file whitelisted: C:\Program Files\PositScience\2_0\Neuroscience\Xtras\process_sound.x32

What if you upload the file that McAfee deleted so we can download it to the correct location and we disable McAfee until they issue a fix?

I second this. That way I can make progress while McAfee takes its time to fix this. Please do make this file ("C:\Program Files\PositScience\2_0\Neuroscience\Xtras\process_sound.x32" available for us to download. Thanks.

There is no need to re-install from CD
Work Around:
1. Disconnect from Internet.
2. Disable Real-Time Virus Protection
3. Restore File using McAfee Security Center
4. Do your exercises
5. Re-Enable Real-Time Virus Scan
6. Reconnect to Internet
How To Section
1. Disconnect from Internet
Too many different ways. You're on your own for this one
2. Disable Real-Time Virus Protection
Startup McAfee Security Center
Click on Computer & Files in RHP (right hand panel)
Click on Configure in RHP
Click off Radio Button in Virus protection is Enabled Panel
3. Restore File
Make sure you're in Advanced Menu
If there is an arrow pointing to Basic Menu you are in the Advanced Menu
Click on Restore in LLHP (lower left hand panel)
In the ULHP (upper left hand panel) Restore click on Files
In the URHP Check Box in front of PROCESS_SOUND...
In the LRHP (I want to ...) Click on Restore
Click Yes in "are you sure" Box
4. Do your exercises
5. Re-Enable Real-Time Virus Scan
Startup McAfee Security Center
Click on Computer & Files in RHP (right hand panel)
Click on Configure in RHP
Click on Radio Button in Virus protection is Enabled Panel
6. Reconnect to Internet

Inappropriate?I did two of the exercises yesterday with no problem, but today when I got to the point of "put on your earphones" I get a Type Error message--"this px-sound Processing-combined Sound List is not a function." I can't continue and I can't exit and must do an "End Program." What do I do now?

Inappropriate?New error message: TypeError:this.px_soundProcessing.phonicWord is not a function
This began this morning, when I started the second (Tell US Apart) session. Also, I started with sah-stah, but when I quit and restarted the program, it skipped to boe/doe. Also, the Start button did not appear, and there was no sound when I clicked one of the other boxes. (Quitting and restarting did not resolve this problem.
One more thing: Is there a better fix to the McAfee interference problem yet?

Inappropriate?You should only have to reinstall once if you disable McAfee and keep it disabled until they provide a fix.

Inappropriate?TIP: After you re-install BFP, make a copy of C:\Program Files\PositScience\2_0\Neuroscience\Xtras\C:\Program Files\PositScience\2_0\Neuroscience\Xtras\process_sound.x32 somewhere like your desktop. Then rename it to C:\Program Files\PositScience\2_0\Neuroscience\Xtras\process_sound.x32.txt. McAfee won't delete text files. If McAfee deletes the file again, you should be able to copy the file back to its original location and remove the .txt extension. I haven't had to try this yet because I disabled McAfee file scanning, but I did it as a backup so I don't have to do a complete reinstall if it somehow goes missing again.

Inappropriate?I have found two files McAfee is removing. One is activate.exe (found to be a Trojan) and other is process_sound.x32.txt. What I have done is copied both of them onto an external flash drive and every time I have a problem with them being removed, I just copy them back to their respective locations. A little bit of work, but sure beats uninstalling and reinstalling Brain Fitness everytime you want to use it. Oh, I put these on an external drive so I can take it out and McAfee won't have access to it. Hope this helps some of you...

On 17 Sept when changing Norton to McAfee I uninstalled N as prompted by McA. Going to Brain Fitness for just a moment I decided to run a full scan with new McA. This was late so I let it run. Rarely is my computer on if I am not with it but on 18th I saw that it was still on and that Trojan horse was listed in PositScience exe and XTRAS\PROCESS_SOUND.X32. Immediately reported to PositS and McA by email. Trying to rescan McA I was told I was not registered. After complaints to computer maker, seller, McA [a few more times], and ISP I still do not feel secure, but am so glad to know this is not just my problem. Is this going to be fixed any time soon. I did not save the 2 infected files.
I am at lesson 36 and want to finish.
I’m resentful of viruses and people that spread them.

Inappropriate?Suddenly, Brain Fitness Program 2.0 and and Brain Fitness Demo 2.0 have stopped working. I immediately get a loud thud and a popup window labeleled Activate.exe when I try to open either program. the popup reads: Windows cannot find 'Activate.exe' I used the search utility, and it found no Activate.exe file.
Yesterday, I installed Roche Accu-Chek Compass program v1.4.0 as the previous version of this program would not operate with OS XP SP3.
I need assistance to reinstall Brain Fitness without losing my accumulated files.

Regarding this error, we have provided a solution at the top of this post. Generally, this issue should not occur. However, there is one variable that is outside our control: computers that use McAfee security software must have an up to date version of McAfee. Outdated versions of McAfee may quarantine our program files.
